United Way: A Renewed Focus

This year, The North Penn United Way refocused their efforts on a community impact based model. Focusing on three key areas: Health, Income and Education, the North Penn United Way has implemented several special initiatives aimed at improving the overall quality of life in our community in addition to our fundraising efforts. As a result, the North Penn United Way is much more than a fundraiser; we are a bridge linking community leaders and agencies together to address the North Penn and Indian Valley Area’s most pressing problems and issues that the community itself has prioritized.

Together, with the Greater North Penn Collaborative for Health and Human Services, the North Penn United Way divided the leading community concerns into six strategic initiatives:

  • Gift of Warmth
  • Stuff the Bus
  • Money in Your Pocket
  • Suit Yourself
  • Partnership for Prescription Alliance
  • Day of Caring
"A key purpose of the North Penn United Way is to enhance the success of our partner agencies, all of which have unique organizational missions, even as they pursue the common goal of improving the lives of the people in our community. By working together, we significantly increase capacity and scale, which results in a greater positive impact for the people of our community," says Mark Cummins, president of the board of the North Penn United Way. "As we look to the future, our responsibility is to identify the most immediate needs around us, and then develop a multi-faceted, all-encompassing plan built upon the strengths of each member agency so that we can indeed address the felt needs of the people of our community."
