The mission of the Lansdale Public Library is to enrich our community through the encouragement of early literacy, the fostering of life-long learning and the celebration of the cultural diversity in our area. A big way we’ve been celebrating diversity is with International Spring Festival. The International Club of the Lansdale Library is presenting the 19th Annual International Spring Festival on April 17, 2010 at North Penn High School from 11am to 5pm.
The festival features an international food court, cultural performances on two stages, over one hundred display tables including thirty nationality exhibits, a health fair, and children’s rides.
Also, since education is the key to promoting diversity, there are many learning activities for children, including tasting food, trying on ethnic costumes, and playing with musical instruments from various cultures. Kids also create ethnic art and win prizes for completing the Passport Program, through which they learn facts about many countries. The goal of the International Spring Festival is to celebrate the diversity of the area in a fun way while sharing knowledge through art, music, food, and educational activities. The intent of this festival is to promote peace and acceptance in our community.
