In North Penn and Souderton Area school districts, an average of 17% of students (roughly 3,572) are living in poverty, as measured by free and reduced lunch rates (an indicator of poverty). This means that thousands of elementary school children in our community begin the school-year without the necessary supplies because their families must focus their financial resources elsewhere.

Stuff the Bus is just one of the many ways North Penn United Way is helping to equip elementary school students with the tools needed to be successful in school. In 2012 more than 1200 backpacks were "stuffed" by 40 volunteers and distributed to more than a dozen nonprofit organizations for disadvantaged elementary school students in North Penn and Indian Valley communities.
The 2013 collection begins June 24th and ends on July 26th.
Check out photos of our “2012 stuffing event.” If you are interested in volunteering for this year's “Stuffing Party” on August 7th at Penndale Middle School please contact Kristen Fisher at 215-855-3002 or k.fisher@npuw.org.
